Both of these things stun me. The first for its sweetness and tenderness, the second for its shocking gruesome brutality. Like humans, chimpanzees are capable of being very loving and very evil. We're not all that far apart when you really think about it.

just went to the ames bros/pearl jam website you mention in your post.
noticed that the two posters shown for june (or july) are similar in design to the work you chose for your inspiration pieces.
how about you make a mood board and categorize the elements in the posters?
some posters/book covers/pieces may fall into several categories.
i think this may help you figure what you like about the work over all, therefore what you like in general and may want to incorporate in your own work.
categories could be color, pattern, composition, typography, concept, etc.
impressive work you've been doing.
a lot of good thinking.
time to put it into practice.
